disabling manual input for Scan to Email: possible?

I have a customer who wants to ensure that employees cant scan docs to their personal email (afraid of their own wiki-leaks?). They have aficio 3030s & a 3545

Is there a way to disable the manual input function on email scanning? I didn't think so & couldnt find anything, but one of you guys may know the trick.

    Thanks in advance...jay

If your customer is using an Internal Exchabge server, then the administrator can restrict email scanning to internal(company) email addresses. I have seen this a few times.

However, it would not restrict them from emailing to their personal addresses from their company addresses.

On the email server it is called 'relaying' and i believe it is possible to restrict relaying in various ways. I've been in environments where the workers PC's can send email off the domain (ie the message is relayed) but the copier could not.

Did you have a look to see if 'extended security' setting are available under system tools? Administrator authentication may need to be on.

Update: Zed, you are correct. Turn on Administrator Authentication. Then User Tools>system settings>admin tools>extended security. you can turn off manul input.

Of course, that does not stop them from using their email to relay to an outside email.

Make photocopies and walk out the door with them in your pocket.

If this is that much of a concern for the customer, and they;re willing to spend a few $$$, adding GlobalScan could accomplish this task nicely, along with adding a few features.

Set up user codes on scanning to monitor usage.
Turn off admin e-mail default. Makes them use their e-mail as sender and shows where it went to and how many pages.
Lockout address book from control panel and give Web Image Monitor a simple password.
It won't keep them from manual input, but will give a true accounting of what is transmitted and who sent it.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?
