AOF / SC 555

Many threads for SC 555 on the MP 6500 series suggest disabling AOF.

Can someone explain the function of AOF and how disabling this feature helps with resolving the SC 555?

SC555 and SC542 codes that plague these units are temperature mis-detections or outright failure to meet the temperature targets during warm-up, so turning AOF 'Off' prevents the machine from ever turning itself off.
