    af1045 tray miss

    hi
    my af1045 show my tray is empty but my tray is full. when I turn off/on it , this problem fixed. what do I ?

    If the tray is not raising up, it may need a lift motor, if the tray is raising up, it may be a broken actuator or defective photocell on the feed assy.

      Seems silly, but make sure you don't have any paper crammed behind the tray itself. That can cause issues with lift too.

        One other thing to consider if the previous suggestions don't resolve the issue is to check the rising unit. The plastic chuck on it that engages the pin on rear of the tray can crack. As the tray rises, the split gets wider and - depending on the amount/weight of the paper- won't always get the paper fully to the top.

            One of the paper size switch pins that mate up to the green wheel can be loose or bent too. That causes the machine to think the tray isn't set correctly.
            It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

            Hit it.
