    turning copier on/off Ricoh 2035

Customer has copier plugged into outlet that is controlled by wall switch which is how they turn copier on/off. Any problems with this??? Like unplugging and plugging in to turn copier on/off.
    Thanks!!!

The preferred/official way is to first push the on/off button in the top right corner of the control panel and wait until the green light goes out, then shut off the main power by the red rocker switch (or in your case I suppose you could use the wall switch). The problem they will eventually run into if they continue to just use the wall switch is a good chance of the hard drive crashing or some other type of error due to it being powered off while it is still processing data-the same thing as unplugging your computer in the middle of an application running. Also, they must have all covers closed, adf down and no paper in the original tray in order for the green on/off light to extinguish. This procedure is an absolute must on the latest generation of devices coming out, I've had many calls on the mpc2050 due to improper shut down.

This is from the op guide.....
    Turning Off the Main Power
    Important
❒ Do not turn off the main power
switch when the On indicator is lit
or blinking. Failure to observe this
may result in damage to the hard
    disk or memory.
❒ Pull out the power plug after you
turn off the main power switch.
Failure to observe this may result
in damage to the hard disk or
    memory.
A Make sure that the On indicator is
    off.
B Open the switch cover and turn
off the main power switch to
    make the main power indicator
    go off.

Already mentioned, but this is really likely to corrupt the HDD eventually. I would strongly suggest you convince the client that isn't the way to go. Set the auto off timer, it doesn't use a ton of juice when 'OFF' with power applied.

I have seen HDDs go out because of this very same thing.
I also recommend they put it on another outlet than one with the lights.
Are they getting any wierd codes or JFNARs?

Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?
