    Ricoh Aficio 2027 not seeing 8.5 x11

    Hi Guys,

I am not a copy tech so please be nice. Our Ricoh 2027 suddenly will not see the main 8.5 x 11 tray. It flashes the red light. Are there paper sensors on the top tray that can get dirty or broken. I did find a small black piece of plastic inside the tray. It was working fine and now everytime we go to print from email or whatever the red light comes on and it cannot see the Letter size paper. This all started last week, it started pulling about 10 sheets of paper at a time and would jam a whole lot.

Thank you much for ANY input.....Rich

the small piece of black plastic may have been from the paper end sensor. it now thinks that the tray is empty. i would suggest that you call a technician.

Pull the tray completely out of the machine and check the white plastic jaw that actuates the tray lift. It may have a crack that allows the tray to lift incompletely.

        Hi,

Is this part on the tray, or inside the empty slot where the tray goes?

        Thank you....

The piece of plastic that you found is probably part of the feeler-paper end sensor. It is located on the paper feed unit which is attached to the frame, the part number is A267 2803. THe shape is similiar to a keel board on a sailboat.

Good description! I think they look like a wedge of dairylea myself. A good cause for mental trays is also the white pins of the tray set switch being bent / broken. Check that out too.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

            Hit it.
