    MP5001 (Lanier LD150) jams with SR790 (B408)finisher

This will be my 4th time back. I forget what the jam code is but it is always when stapling. The log doesn't show a lot of jams, operator claims jams constantly. I have seen it once, seems to jam right by front white guide (the front of the ones that go up as paper passes into staple tray at lower turnaround) I have taken guides 3,4 out didn't see any nicks or anything. There is a global knowledge base on placing mylars in there, did that. Any thoughts appreciated.

Think I may have figured it out. Found a bulletin on previous version LD050 for input guides for bridge unit. Without these guides you get an occasional dogear. My stapler jams all have one dogearred page. These guides go on some copiers, stay off of others. This model is supposed to have them and doesn't. I got them on order.

Not having these in place will definately cause dog eared pages. The "best" thingis that each of those little blue pieces of plastic cost almost $30 from Ricoh. I complained to our Ricoh Supply Manager and the reply from Japan was that the pricing is correct!

The SR790 wasn't originally meant to run this fast too. There's a modded EPROM out for this. With the dog-eared copy tho, I would suspect those guides too.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

              Hit it.

What we have been seeing on that finisher is at the lower black guide plate (j-shape). The upper part has casting issues. We remove the guide and scothbrite the casting marks smoth and fixes the prob.

I've had to file almost all of those guides on my machines. I've had the missing plastic guides too.

It seems the faster the engine the worse the jamming is. When this finisher first stepped to the 35 and 45 CPM engines we started to have issues, and it has worsened from there. I also find a sligh reduction in the drive belt tension also helps and applying a thin coat of silicone oil to the plastic guides in the 'J' part of the paper path helps too. Filing the ridge off the upper 'J' guide is the big thing though.
