CL7300 Colour Alignment Lost After Reset - Help Please!

I have a ricoh cl7300 printer which had issues with the colour alignment.

I replaced all PCUs, replaced the transfer belt (and cleaned all rollers in the transfer unit so they are clean and shiny).

Did a colour alignment via the menu - failed
Did a forced alignment via service mode (can't recall the SP) - failed
Ran a dot grid test, colours off vertically (horizontally seem close)
Used the factory settings sheet (in the door under the jam sheet) to reset all settings to those and it worked. However, once the printer went into sleep mode and woke up again, it ran a calibration cycle (seems to do that a lot) and the alignment went off.

Any offers where to look, which SPs to run etc to get this thing functional again?

    All help gratefully received!!

If the auto adjust failed, try the Forced line adjustement in Sp mode : SP5-993-2

sorry, missed that out of my list of previous actions!

      sp5-993-2 gives a NG response and sp5-993-7 gives a result of 070707

First you should make shure that the upper left transfer belt roller (looks like coated with chrome) and MUSIC sensors are clean. The transfer belt itself must look healthy as well. Then you can try to perform another calibration via SP. I can't recall the exact SP but one of them offers the calibration modes (different steps from rough to fine). That may help if the machine isn't capable to run the standard calibration (usually fails if the colors are too much out of sync).

If the colour registration is out by more than 1.4mm, then SP 5-993-2 will fail. Carry out rough line adjustment first, SP 5-993-39, then fine adjustment SP 5-993-2.

Thanks for that, any idea what to do when 5-993-39 gives an NG result??

Looking at the grid test (r) print, the bottom of the page isn't too far out, though goes worse as it gets nearer the top, at the top it's about 2mm out.

I had one of these, do the same thing. I had to replace the transfer belt to get it registered correctly. Mind you the old t-belt looked pretty good to me. also while the belt was off, I cleaned every roller in the transfer assembly

Yep did that last week, there was quite a build up on the top and bottom rollers so cleaned those, still no joy!

Getting really annoyed with this now and running out of ideas!

Try a new transfer belt in it. Might need a whole new transfer unit. What does the manual say about the 070707 process control error result?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                  Hit it.

                    Sorted!!

                    Here's the steps I took

                    1. cleaned everything down
                    2. use the SMC data sheet with the printer and changed all settings to match that

                    - at this time, everything worked fine, though last time I did it, it lost the settings, so to be sure, then

                    3. did the rough alignment SP 5-993-39
                    4. did the fine adjustment SP 5-993-2

                    And so far, so good!

Thanks to everyone for your help and ideas
