[Misc] Ricoh Aficio 2035e web password

I know there are quite a few messages about wanting to reset a lost web admin password and I also see there are a lot of people that get upset at the people who ask so all I would like to know is if my tech (actually a Ricoh tech that we pay maintenance to) is telling me right in saying that the only way to reset the web admin password is to buy a new mainboard for around $1000.00. Is this true or is there a way to reset that password without spending that kind of money. If there is any other information that is needed to be able to tell me the answer to this...feel free to ask me.

    Thanks in advance.

Would that be done by doing the following?
      1. press "clear mode", "107".then hold down "clear/stop" key.
      2. enter 5990 press enter.
      3. touch on screen "execute". after print out go back to clear memory.
      4. enter 5801-1
      5. follow the list to reset each item.

I just want to be sure we are on the same page.

log in as supervisor with password as password.
If that doesn't work you will have to buy a new NVRAM.
Not $1000.00 but about $600 retail.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

          From the GKB...

What to do if the administrator password is forgotten

          Answer
Administrators do not need to enter a username. They only need to remember their password. If this password is forgotten, please try the following:
          1) The admin password is the same for both WebImageMoniter and telnet. Ask whether the customer remembers either of the two.
          2) Try the factory default "password".
          3) If both 1) and 2) do not work, a service engineer has to reset the password for the customer. Follow these steps:
3-1) (IMPORTANT) Print a configuration sheet at the beginning. You will need the configuration sheet to restore the network settings.
          3-2) Enter SP mode.
3-3) Enter SP 5-801-011 (Memory Clear > NCS).
          3-4) Press [Execute].
3-5) You will be asked for confirmation. (IMPORTANT) This will reset all of the network and interface settings. Make sure you have printed the configuration sheet. Press [Execute] once again.
3-6) Turn off the device, then turn it back on.
3-7) Restore all the network settings to the values of the configuration sheet.
3-8) The above steps should have reset the password to the factory default, "password".
3-9) Finally, the customer should log in to the device and change the password to their own. This can be done using Web Image Monitor or telnet ("passwd" command).

TeeBee is correct for this model. Also, the Supervisor log-in does not change the admin password on this machine. The newer models use the Supervisor login to change the admin password and require the NVRAM replacement if both of those passwords are forgotten.

Er, no. If you do that your machine will revert to the state of a cabbage. Run SP-7810 and that will reset the password to null.

Teebee I followed the directions to the T but the only problem is that after entering the service mode I click on printer sp then on the top right corner the button SP Direct is darkened and I type in 5-801-011 like you instructed but the execute button does not come up on the screen. Am I missing a step in order to get the execute button on?

                        Works

Thanks for all your help with this issue. It is fixed so now I get to have a talk with the printer tech that told me it wasn't possible without spending 1000.00 for a new board.

                          SP 7810 deletes user passwords.
