Hi All,
Working on a CL7200 that has diagonal banding and intermittent black print. Firstly the banding issue.
I have done individual solid colour internal prints via SP mode and the banding only occurs on the Magenta and Yellow colours. Blue and Black are fine.
Strangely, the diagonal banding is only on the bottom half of the page. The top half is perfect, ie nice and solid.
I have changed the magenta dev clutch thinking it would solve this but to no luck. I do have confidence that changing the dev units will resolve the problem however i have concern that maybe initially, the dev clutches may have failed causing the dev units to fail. the colour dev units have only done 30% rotation/25K pages.
Also, the reason why i suggest the dev clutch is because of the following:
i know the cyan dev clutch as well as a cyan dev unit was changed a while ago for this machine when the prints were also diagonally banding (however across the entire page not just half) when printing full bleed cyan was being printed and that problem was resolved - saying that the current set of colour dev units (CYM) in the machine replaced the cyan dev unit previously replaced to sort out the cyan banding issue. And currently, the cyan does not have banding issues. any suggestions or confirmations?
Now in regards to the black feint/patchy print. When i first inspected the machine, the initial config page test that i printed out resulted in the leading half of the page being feint immediately followed by the second half of the page being nice and bold/solid. The seperation of the feint and solid parts were very sharp - ie if a line was drawn between the two sections, the vertical line would be dead straight. Several more prints of the config page showed no signs of patchiness/feintness. I performed Colour Demo prints and all colours were good except the black text and has and continues to occur for every colour demo print to date. I also performed a PS font list internal print and it too has patchy black print with the red Adobe logo being perfect. I immediately go back to a config page and all is fine. As mentioned above, the individual black solid colour print done via SP is perfect. No banding, no feint or patchiness only nice and solid.
I've had full SMC reports be printed perfectly but also other sets come out all feint. However, currently, i've noticed that any internal prints that contain black only are nice and solid but any internal prints that use another colour than black results in the black text/print being feint. I can assure that the black is true black and not process black.
I've changed the black developer clutch already but yet to do the black dev unit (due to the fact that solid A4 & A3 black full bleed pages are perfect).
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. thank you.
