    embedded @Remote

Anybody have any experience with this new feature? From the brochure it sounds like using it, the mfp is not linked to Ricoh Japan but to their local provider. If its embedded, what else do you need?

I believe all @Remote implementations communicate with the servers in Japan. The customer is registered on the system and the activation code is set up in the RC Gate of WIM or via SP modes.

But according to the lit, if the solution is embedded, there is no appliance (gate) and the client is connected to the "local provider"

All of the embedded set-ups I've done are registered the same way as the RC Gate 'appliance' and are managed via the same portal. When it comes to the internet I suppose Japan is as local as anywhere else .

The server is in Japan, though there are different interfaces available to access info (user, tech, dealer/office). I imagine a dealer could have a customized web page to port to the enduser the info desired. Attached is a white paper giving the lowdown on how it works.....

The "Center Server", as Ricoh calls it, is located at Ricoh in Japan.

Once you are set up as a dealer with the @Remote program, you will have a login to the Center Server to manage all of your @Remote Embedded machines, as well as any @Remote Appliances.

The customer will get a login to view his own data only for @Remote Appliances; there is no customer login for Embedded.

The Appliance can also report meters of non-Ricoh devices. Note that it only gets the total counters on these, meaning that it will not get color meters on anything other than Ricoh machines. (Sounds minor, but we got burned on this one already!)
