    MPC2050 jamming issues?

We have sold loads of these 2050s as they are cheaper.
But it's my opinion they have some serious intermittent paper feed issues.
Random mis-feeds seems to be the most popular fault reported to us.
We are aware of all the current RTBs and troubleshooting guides but still tend to get one or two problematic machines.

I just want to put the feelers out and see if other techs are experiencing paper feed issues with this model.
Or have any tips and tricks that are not included in any RTBs to date.

PS the one way clutches are just lovely to replace for tray 1 ah.

Don't feel alone. We have the same issue with no resolution. Hopefully they have a tray 3 and 4 to use. Sorry for no help but we are working on it.

Lots of 03. Seems to stop as it makes the turn out of the tray.

When the customer is storing an extra pile of paper in the tray, the bottom plate can not lift the paper against the paper feed roller.

No extra paper. I have loaded paper and watched it. The copier may feed 50 sheets then start jamming. Followed all the steps to diag. it and still does not resolve it.

I service these models and am really disappointed that Ricoh fitted these machines with such rubbish papertrays (1 + 2)
BUT.... since paper is not bleeched anymore, paper is whitened with additives. These additives make the paperfeedrollers slippery.
My advice to a lot of customers who really care for their machines is to clean the feedrollers themselves as soon as jams occur.
Some of them actually did this and are now very satisfied !
IMHO clean them feedrollers as much as you can !

Yup jam code 03 and 19 seem to be common.

But like you we test the machine on site and it will work fine for a hundred copies or so then out of the blue, mis-feed or a partial feed!
We have tried all sorts clutches, sensors, trays, feed rollers, sep pads, fusers, reg gear brackets, reg motors, PSUs, PCBs, firmware... you name it.
Some of these machines are barely run in, it's almost a embarrassment.

Yup seen the RTB about not storing spare paper on the other side of the tray (makes sense and I have caught a few customers doing so).

I was thinking maybe the tray plate spring isn't supplying enough tension up against the feed roller as the paper stack starts to move / empty.
Going to test stretching that sucker or see if I can add a second spring for an custom mod job.

Here in Singapore, we also faced a lot of 2030 and 2050s with this intermittent jam issues. The 'favorite' jam location is at Tray 1 and Tray 2 Feed.
Primary fault lies with the feelers and we started pulling them out. Next suspect is the FRICTION PAD from Japan production. Please replace them with those CORK like material which helps a lot in eliminating the jamming issue. Least suspect is the Feed Clutches however, for some units, after changing Friction pad, and pulling out the feelers, changing the Feed Clutch was the last resort and it totally eliminates the issue.

have' had the prob on mpc but have had it on mp 2050 and the cause has been if you switch auto paper detect off
and the sensor behind the tray gets knocked out it changes the pressure of the tray lift most often to a5 if you more than half load the tray consent jams re-fitt jamming stops hope this helps.

Agree with Kopikat, seen the same many times on the MP and it will feed under certain paper heights in the tray but not others.

I have 3 machines on field that has the same issue, one of it just recently bought from us. Usually is jammed in tray 2 where we assigned for A3 paper size. I have replaced the cork type friction pad, new feed roller, all the clutches, updated firmware, but still the same problem. I already posted a complain to NRGI but they cannot help since as they said is a local issue. What I did, I only exchanged the paper size assignment. I transferred A3 size to tray 1 and A4 size to tray 2. Still it is jamming but not frequently as before...
