1045 wont set up as printer

Hi everyone, we delievered a 1045 with print, fax, and scan on it. We dont do the IT stuff so we leave it up to the account to set up. This place says they connected it to the network, did the ping command which showed it was connected and can access the smart device monitor. When he tries to install it as a printer the computer says it cant find the 1045 even if he searches for the IP address. He is running windows XP, and has set up other printers including a 1027 with no problems, is he missing a setting someware? thanks for any help you can give.

Are you able to print a config page? Does the "printer" show in User tools?

connect a laptop with a crossover cable , install the driver and this can confirm or eliminate the network. Also, since this is a used machine, was it tested by you or your crew to see if it was printer ready? That is all the components installed?

Also, on this model it is possible that the network will require that the port be configured as lpr, que name lp (thats LP in lower case) and byte counting enabled.

I'm going there this morning to hook up my laptop....we traded this in from one of our accounts who did use it as a network printer so I'm thinking its going to work. I will tell their IT guy about the port configure info. Thanks for the ideas.

Never mind....sales talked them into a MP3500, it set up perfectly, I'll mess around with the 1045 at the shop. thanks for the ideas.
