[Misc] DSc232/Ricoh 1224c stalled printing a PDF - cant delete the print job

    Hi Guys,

I have a problem clearing a failed print job.
I printed a PDF from my iMac to me Ricoh 1224c. The first sheet printed but the remainder seemed to stall, with just "Printing...." displaying.
I have tried to rest the job, but doing so means the "Job Resetting..." seems to just stay on the screen.
I have deleted the job from CUPs on my iMac.

I can't seem to enter any of the System Setting menus, neither can I enter the service menus. When doing so I get the "beep, beep, beep" of failure.
Power cycling seems not to do anything as I guess the job is spooled on the HDD.

How can I overcome this...the machine simply won't print anything whilst in this state!

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Kieron

Did you power cycle it using the main power switch in the front and the device disconnected from the network? I've never seen a print job stay spooled doing it this way. If it still stays in that condition, disconnect the hard drive and try it again.

      Hi teebee1234,

Yup, I power cycled using the red button on the front.
Tried a power cycle last night with no network attached, with the same issue occuring.
I'll try the same with the HDD removed.

Before I do that though...I assume the system will still boot up OK? And how will I then re-connect the HDD without the device trying to print again? Do I need to put the HDD into a different PC and boot up to delete any file that looks rougue? What would be my next steps?

      Thanks for your help?

      Kieron

There's likely a SP mode that allows you to format the HDD, this should clear the job.

          Hi Hemlock,

I did think about this, but I can't seem to get into the Service mode as the device starts printing as soon as it's fired up (after re-booting, of course).
Is there a way of entering service mode during bootup?

          Thanks,

          Kieron

If you leave one of the doors open when you power on the machine you should be able to get into tech mode. I'm assuming you've disconnected the machine from the network and/or deleted the print jobs in the queue...

              Hi cobiray,

Thanks for this tip; I hadn't considered doing this..brilliantly simple!

I have disconnected from the net, as well as deleted the print job from CUPs on my Mac.
I have tried to delete the job from the device by the touch screen, as well as from the web interface. It will sit there for days saying "Deleting..."!

I am staring to think that it's manifesting itself a little like the computer in the 1977 film "The Demon Seed"...I am starting to worry!

Thanks, guys for all your help. I will be trying more at the weekend. Or I will go mad with an axe!

              Take care,

              Kieron
