I have a Savin 9935dpe. It was printing black streaks across paper. Most at top of paper, then gradually got better towards the middle. I took the toner cartridge out. took out the green tube (I believe this is the drum?), cleaned it, cleaned all of the clear plastic strips on that section, cleaned all of the roller bars, and pretty much cleaned out everything else I could think of. Now it is printing with even heavier lines, all over the page. What have I messed up, and how do I fix it. Please help.

If I wanted to contact a tech, I wouldn't have asked the question. I am a pretty handy guy, and I don't have the funds to hire a tech. So if you wouldn't mind, a few tips would be appreciated.Comment

I don't have a scanner here. I will take a few pages home with me and scan them from there. Thank you for the help.
Is there a way to print a cleaner page?Comment

Your machine is quite different from a small laser printer, and even for an experienced technician this machine can be quite troublesome. Components are able to be replaced individually and reliable replacements are only available to authorized technicians. More than likely there are several components which will need to be replaced. It sounds as if you have damaged the drum in attempting to clean it.Comment

These guys are just try to save you alot of money by not destroying the machine. The black streaks are anything from developer to a drum ground to a heat roller. I don't how you clean it, but without a special vacum. You problely just destroy a shopvac.

Functional Problems SC350-01
Now I am getting a message on the screen that says:
Functional Problems SC350-01
Does this shine any light on what my problem may be?Comment

Uh yeah......
I think I know what the problem is.
You ruined the drum.
Cleaning an OPC drum is like keying your car.
It leaves ugly scratches that ruin your image.
I only do it for small buildups and as a temp measure till I can get a new drum & blade out.
Do yourself a favor and just call a company for an estimate.
They will tell you what you need.
Then we may be able to help you with hints and tricks. Why do they call it common sense?
If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?Comment

Perhaps not as handy as you think, the question should have been asked and answered before you threw yourself into something like this. Its possible a drum cleaner could have gotten you out of trouble, now you will need a new drum and quite possibly a few other parts if the fuser or any other unit is the cause of your lines.I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. ~Thomas EdisonComment

Yeah, that SC-350 is a "Bias Leak" and can be caused by many components near your drum. This is not something that a cleaning will take care of - a new PCU costs $700+ in parts to a Ricoh tech, and has about 35 components, plus toner, developer, and a few service mode adjustments. If your ready for a world of hurt from whoever is paying for your copier, then start by getting a service manual for it - this is not for the ill equipped, faint of heart or faint of wallet!Comment

Not to mention the machine is nearly 13 years old and probably requires replacement. It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.Comment
