    [Error Code] SC517 Aficio 1232C

    Hi,

Any suggestions about this code, I know that we can reset the machine and see if the code desapears. But I'm getting more information in just in case. Some codes don't desapear with trouble reset in the service mode of the machines, some disapear because was caused of electrical fluctuation or similar.

Tha machine is a Ricoh Aficio 1232c, color machine.

Any suggestions will be very appreciated.

Can't find SC517 in the manual. Are you sure it's 517?

SC571 is an Oil Overflow error. The oil tank is not detected or the oil overflow sensor is broken. This SC can also appear when the Fusing Unit is not detected. Could also be a firmware issue.

Thanks, yes I'm was reading about it in a post here.
But I never update the firmware on Ricoh machines.
I repair some 1027 and 1035, but it area a monochrome, this is color.
I like color machines, but sometimes the consumables and others are more expensive.
I don't know why a lawyer that copy all in monochrome have one of this color machines.
They have more than 5 machines in his office, all monochrome. Also have a mini monster Xerox 5050.
Also I don't have the latest version. I don't even know whitch version is the latest.

Do you recommend first take a look on hardware?

I will try to find the correct steps to update this firmware after touch this firmware.
Also I saw a RTB but It shows only page # 10.

          Any help will be appreciated.

I always try to repare an issue by looking at the hardware first. I don't like updating firmware on older machines. But sometimes you have no choice.
I would first check the Fusing Unit and the oil supply. If you have the chance to get rid of this machine, do it, because this machine is by far the worst machine Ricoh ever made (Funny detail : The service manual file size is 8.22 Mb, and the RTB-file is almost 13 Mb).

                Hi, Eric1968

I review the hardware of the machine, the fuser oil was at the top of the fuser unit container, the overflow sensor was activated. The Fuser Oil sensor was good, I check it on the I/O in the Service Mode. Fuser Pump was working. I just empty the fuser oil of the unit at the fuser unit. Review the Input of the oil end and it was working properly. The oils canister is empty at the moment, I need to add new oil after new test.

Everything looks fine, fuser end sensor is working according the I/O, Fuser Oil overflow is working as well, pump is working, all hardware looks in working conditions. I run the trouble reset in the SM ad it was cleared, turn off the machine and on several times and it never appears again.

What in the universe cause that overflow?, all sensors working, hardware in good conditions.

Another question, the copy quality in B/W looks acceptale, the copy quality in color mode look very bad. I saw that the TBU had toner residues like an cleaning blade deffective.

The machine was stopped by an a year, whitch consumables has to be replaced to get this machine working in acceptable quality?

                Thanks in advance.

Could be that the Oil supply unit was out of position? If the oil was cloudy / dirty it could have blocked the sensor?

Your colour copy quality problem may be the drive gearbox at the back of the machine. If the clutches are not operating correctly the Transfer cleaning unit may not release, causing quality problems.

Run a cleaning cycle in user tools ("123") / Maintenance.. When finished, take some copies and look for colour band in the paper feed direction on the first few copies. This is a sure sign that the clutches are faulty.

Without the yellow button, you can't.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                      Hit it.
