I still cant get the user codes for the printer to work everything seems to be turned on and still no go . I brought in a I T specialist to make sure it was not something wrong on the computer end and he cant figure it out either.

Which driver are you using? The RPCS-driver sometimes remembers the user code. So it doesn't matter if you're limiting color or not, it always prints. Maybe try the PCL6-driver.

What type of authentication are you telling the print function to use? Make sure you have the types of prints you want that user code to use checked instead of PC control.

Do the jobs print at all, or does the web interface just show a bunch of cancelled access denied jobs?

If you want to use user codes (for example to limit color prints), you'll have to fill in the user code in the printer driver. If the printer accepts the code it prints, if the code is not accepted the print job is deleted on the machine.

Well, it shouldn't ask for a user code if everything is configured correctly. Are you saying you enabled everything correctly on the mfp (enabled user code auth for the Printer and enabled printer function for each individual user), added the user code to the individual driver and it works? If so then that's the way it should be (no popup asking for the code). Or does it print without a user code being set up in the driver, then that's a problem.

If you use the default editor you should be able to "force" the print driver to ask for a code. At least you used to be able to on the old editor. I haven't had a chance to use the one they released on the print driver sites. I'm assuming it will be in the same place as the other network utilities (scan router, admin tools, etc.)
