I've had contact with this equipment.
Seems like a good machine for both the user and also for the technician.
I particularly liked the new controller. Everything (or almost everything) that was optional now came in the machine.
Basically I think it is a good equipment, technically speaking -
Aficio 400 (Zeus- C1) seems to be a good machine.Improved features like printing on letterhead, azerty keyboard, multilingual user interface, safe shutdown, print from usb/sd card, high compression PDF with JPEG 2000, App2me,scan to webmail and user account limiting are available in the machine. Security features like software data security kit and HDD encyption kit are standard on this machine. The only drawback I have seen on this kind of machine is that it has no A3 size setting. It uses only A4 or letter size paper as standards.Comment

Just finished training last week. Looks like a good machine with a lot if options already built in, like sharpmind says. Postscript is standard on this machine, so you can also sell them to Apple or Linux users without having to buy the expensive PS-Unit.Comment

I had training in January and as I told you I found a beautiful machine.
Sharpmind: have you had the chance to work with the "user account limiting "???? LOL I thought it was a joke. Probably the programer did it in one of the trips to the bathroom lol. It is very limited ... I am not only referring to the user. I pity the manager of the equipment. At least there could be a way to reset all users at once. (from what I saw you have to delete one by one). A little more effort and could be a great thing.
Eric: I have no experience with MAC but it seems that new versions of "OS" work with PCL. Is it true???Comment

I don't think the user account limiting is practical to use because it will just give more headache to both users and to the technician.it is very limited and you have to reset the user account individually. If the users are not aware of their limit for printing and for copying, they would come to a point that their copying/printing job are not done in time because there is no sign or warning that they reach their limit. They would presume that there is a problem in the machine and immediately give the burden to the technician.Comment

Yes I know that. But they told me that new versions of Mac OS already supports PCLComment

HelpDesk must be trained for these situations. Otherwise we will make many trips to just do resetComment

Interesting, it's an SPC430 with a scanner. I wonder if you can use the printer PCU's in them? It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

While you may be able to get Gimp or Gutenprint drivers to almost work, they have a ton of issues, and are absolutely not supported.“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. That’s why I keep mine locked up in the basement.” - Tim HawkinsComment

Tell you one thing I've seen with this new breed of printer, I had a toner coil fail on 6k because the cyan PCU wasn't inserted correctly. There's already a couple of RTB's in relation to the toner supply motors. Might be worth checking out if you're going to be putting any in the field. It's 106 miles to Chicago.
