[Misc] Ricoh Aficio 3800C: How do you clean the Development Unit?

Hello, I have a Ricoh Aficio 3800C. I noticed that there are faint Cyan streaks when I print. I opened up the printer/copier unit and looked at the Cyan Development Unit (part No. G060 3011, Development Unit - C) and saw faint streaks (or clumps) of toner on the Development Unit roller in the same place where the streaks are on the paper when I print.

My question is, how do you clean the Development Unit without first having to replace it. Do you clean it with a a brush or vacuum, or dry cloth?

    Any advise will help.

    Thanks.

In one word, you don't. Dev units start giving you trouble, replace them. PCU's can be cleaned, charge rollers and blades can be replaced etc, but when dev units start to fail don't mess with them. Incidentally, you might have to replace the cyan PCU too.

    Hit it.

That's what I needed to know.

Do you have to replace the magenta, yellow, and cyan dev units all at the same time, or can you replace them separately?

      Thanks for the quick reply.

You could just replace the cyan dev unit, however if you want to keep the copy quality top notch, just replace the parts as it needs them.

the developer units are sold in kits - one kit for color (includes cyan, yellow, magenta) and one for black. Typically faint lines will be caused by a dirty charge roller in the drum unit. They can usually be cleaned with a damp cloth (water). You can see the charge roller - it is the small black roller resting on top on the drum.
