2238C compression problem. Insufficiant data error when opening PDF.

When I turn compression off works fine but file size is too big for Color scans.
Reformatted HDD, reset scanner Aplication and changed compression type in service mode.
It worked when I installed it a week ago no problem.
I can't see it being firmware when it used to work.
    Any other ideas?
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Might be a DIMM stick going south. Do you have another to switch it with?

This is a common error with Adobe Reader 9, not a device problem. Any chance they updated versions since you last tested it? Try sending the same document to yourself or someone else and open it with a different version than what they are using.

Tried it to my laptop that has Adobe 6.
Printing has no problem, so that would eliminate memory.

It's in the customers court now. They may have to to either upgrade or downgrade Adobe, depending on what they're using. I would also update the Netfile firmware on the device, there has been mention of that helping with compression issues.

It failed to my laptop, with my crossover cable, running Adobe 6, Office 2000 and twain to Word 2000 MS paint, JASE paintshop pro and Adobe pro 7.
The scan to e-mail had the same problem going to my own address in PDF, JPEG and TIFF.
I'm thinking the machine has the problem, not the network.
I am taking a different controller out tomorrow and swap unit by unit and reload firmware till I know what it is.
            I will post my findings.

            Thanks for the input.

I misread your post, thought you said it worked with Adobe 6. Let us know what the fix is, thanks.

Turned out to be firmware. Half was latest and greatest and half still at install levels.
