Checked in those places and behind some other covers, but no luck. I'll take out the back covers, but I doubt it is there. I believe it's MIA.

Ignoring the remainder SC codes (2nd to 10th), since they were logged the last day I was here messing with the machine, the 1st code (thrown out today at 9am) is SC350 - so I'm glad I bought an ID sensor with me along with a TD sensor. I'll replace the ID sensor first and see how it goes from here.

Not only it didn't solve, I now have an SC342 that I can't get rid of - even with new TD sensor and new developer.

          What the heck?

Just a thought, but if the laser setting are off you may get poor ID patch and add toner / ID codes... What are the SP3103 / 2223 readings? try SP3001-002 to initialise the new ID sensor then run 11 white copies and check Vsp / Vsg.

Which toner mode is the machine in? Check SP2208-1 and see if the machine has locked in Pixel control, this can cause an overtone. Is the new TD sensor OK? If the machine can't read 3.0V during setup you will get SC342. (Back to checking SP2223)

Probably increased the charge trying to get good potential and blew the charge wire!

Did you manage to copy an NVRAM from another machine? Also, I think you may find a label on the laser unit with the required settings for the unit. This may help get things into the correct range. If you manage to get an SMC list (2 and 6) and can scan these onto the forum we may be able to see a pattern.

After a long while with the machine spending some time at our facilities, I believe I've finally tracked down the culprit.

Turns out that it seems to have been caused by the toner supply clutch that was stuck, causing the machine to keep adding toner.

I believe that whoever serviced the machine first couldn't find this and so resorted to resetting the nvram - which, in turn, led me to believe that the trouble was caused by the nvram being reset.

I'll post some confirmation later (I'm still assembling the beast) but I think I've got it figured out.

Thanks to all who gave their suggestions.

                  Cheers!

Another thing: Is it possible to order just the clutch or do I have to order the full thing (B1405325 - Brushless Motor DV24V/20.7W)?

                      IIRC you order the assembly.

Is there a part number on the clutch itself?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                        Hit it.

Never tried any on Ricoh machines, so I wouldn't know. But the general consensus is that Ricoh's are bitchy about the supplies they get, so...
