Ricoh MP5500 sc220 laser sync error

Ricoh mp 5500 gets a sc220( laser synch. detection. ) error every time. The paper feeds to reg. roller then then sc220. I have replaced the laser syc pcb, laser motor, laser detect. pcb. with no help. What else can cause this? I have a machine to use for parts.

I had a PSU cause this on an MP2050, but I would check the door switches first. Have you changed the Laser Diode Board?

I have changed: laser diode unit, door switches, harness to ld unit, checked all connections. sc 220 everytime. Can bad firmware cause this? Where can I download current firmware from?

SC220 two options: laserdiode replacement or download te NVram data to sd card. Do a total clear of NV ram and upload the data again. If posible print a smc report. (not all settings are on the NV ram)

Or in a very dusty machine clean/replace laser sync detection board. On top (left) of the manual feed.
