    MPC2050 - ScanToFolder

    Hello,

I have a MPC2050. It is installed on a network of about 500 computers. I can not make it work ScanToFolder. He has run for four months, but now can not reset it. It works by ScanToMail. I did a 5-832-1, then I try again but the file remains on hold.

The file is shared locally on each computer on the C: drive.
I create a session scanner locally on each workstation, the file to change the rights for this session.

On the copier, I enter the name of the person, the authentication file and path:
    - toto
    -login: scan-toto
    -password : password-toto
    -path: \ \ computer-toto \ c $ \ scan

    DNS is ok.
    No Wins.
I have the complete domain name: toto.intranet

The session for the scanner must be set locally or on the field?
How the copier makes a difference to search on the domain or locally?
ScanToFolder function is on the same card as the function ScanToMail?
Is it possible that this is an electronic card that is faulty?

    ScanToMail: OK
    Print: OK
    ScanToDossier: Error

What is the OS for the workstations? Are the folders on the workstations both shared and set up for read/write access? Has anything changed in the customer network? If it has worked before I would start to suspect something has changed in terms of a security setting in the network. New firewall or other change in rights perhaps.

Are the folders hidden by the way? I saw you have a $ in the name...

I second the thought the customer changed something, most likely updated their antivirus/firewall. Have you tried temporarily disabling the antivirus and firewall? And are you saying that each user has a folder on their pc or a shared folder on the server? A shared folder on the server would only require one login and passward in the SMB login in User Tools. Generally, you shouldn't be responsible once the initial setup is done and working (unless of course they purchased the network service separately). If they change something down the road then that normally would incur network service costs, outside of their service agreement. Realistically, I give a freebie one time and advise them going forward that we are not responsible for changes on their network.

There is a problem with scan to folder on MP C2050, if the customer use Win 7 or Win server 2008 R2. You have to upgrade the NIB firmware to ver. 8.30 or never. (if you have access to Tessa see RD038006e)

Can you browse to the folder?

THis is a good test. Go to the address book>one of the entries>folder tab. Then, touch change next to where the path is entered and delete the path back to just \\computer name., then touch ok. There should be a place that tsays "browse network". touch that and see if it will connect, it should come up to a screen asking for log-in and password. Unfortunatly, this does not always work for W7, especially 64bit.

I delete the entire address book, and I recreate but its not working. Users have Windows XP Pro. Via the network I have access to the shared folder, it is shared read / write.
I change the path: \ \ computer-name \ scan by: \ \ IP address \ scan but its not working.

The MPC2050 is the firmware update.
I have 8 other MPC 2050 on the network, 6 work very well and 2 do not work in ScanToFolder.

I disable the firewall, antivirus. I do not understand.
The session of the copier is set up locally on the computer! But I learn the domain name on the copier, can this cause problems?

Try to set up the path through the copier admin tools.
It allows the machine to browse the network to see each workstation and shares.
I always use it to see if the machine can see the network and each workstation.
It also asks for user ID and password for each workstation.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

                  Hello

You wrote that you have 8 MPC 2050 on the net, try to change machine!, plug in another machine instead of this one, so you can exclude network problems.
Try to set the path manually from the machine (not with "browse network").

Or should I go to put the SMB protocol to ON, the photocopier?

Check your network settings on the copier make sure the subnet is right.

Also why would you be scanning to 500 pc. I would hope they have a server if so they should be scanning to the server and give the users access to the folders.
