    Ricoh/Founder

I accidentally posted same message in Sharp forum.
    http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/sh...p-founder.html

    Hi friends,

Schools in my region got donations from Chinese government. They have lot of FOUNDER ML325D copiers. It's Ricoh but don't know which model. I set them working, but all of these have Chinese User Interface
Could anyone point me how to change it to English. If there is such option.
It's very hard for school people to operate with Chinese signs.

What's the machine's largest paper size it can handle? A3/DLT? A4/Letter? It looks like an Aficio MP2000, but the tray handles are different and the output tray isn't white.

As soon as you know the correct model, you'll just need an SD Card and the firmware with the language you want.

i think that it's a dip switch setting on the IOB board

Ensure that DIP switch 101 is set as shown:
DIP Switch 101 should be set to 1-6 = OFF ,7 = ON ,8= OFF

Mentions in the Ricoh manual Aficio MP2500/MP2580, Founder ML325/ML325D have you checked sp mode 5807?

        5807 1
        Selects the display language group.
        1 = Japan, 2 = North America, 3 = Europe, 4 = Taiwan, 5 = Asia,
        6 = China, 7 = Korea
        SP 5807 1 is not cleared by SP 5801 2 (
        * "Memory Clear").

There should be a product code on the serial number plate, fairly recent models would be Bxxx or Dxxx for multifunction product codes. These should be universal and allow us to equate this one to any of the RFG brands. Model family can also be deciphered from the serial number too.

It looks like an MP2500, the new breed of the Kir also known as a Parisian-C1, D010 engine.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

            Hit it.

This model largest paper size is A3. I couldn't find any DIP switch.

paulg how to check sp mode 5807? When I enter service mode there is something like this:
              (SP)
              1.Copy
              2. (I think MODE)
              3.Printer
              4. ....

              Thanks all for replying

Choose Copy or System SP (the newer models like this may call it System SP), then highlight the area in the top right which would read Direct Access and enter 5807. Select location as stated by paulg and you'll be happy again.

I think the language selection is the last (or among the last) option at the first level of the user menu. Try pressing "<>/123", then "arrow up" then "ok/enter" - that would be the last option of the menu/user tools. In case you might download a user manual of the "MP2000" to get a more detailed documentation of the menu structure.

                    Re: Ricoh/Founder

                    Hi,

I thought I could shed some light on this topic
since I had the same problem with a Foundertech ML325D.

Btw, whose idea was to put Chinese language as default!? :S

This is what you are going to do when the copier is on and ready:

                    Press some.sign/123 button

                    1.jpg

then press down arrow 5 times.

                    2.jpg

You will reach the last option of 2/2 list.
(List marker at top right corner of the screen)

Press OK and you will be able to see
                    "English" written in Latin letters.

Just select it using arrows and whole menu
will be in English from than on.

You also have this procedure explained on
pg. 45, part 6. It is in Chinese but you would
be able to figure it out just by looking illustrations.

                    Hope this helped.

No problem Glad to help. But....

I have new problem with Founder ML325D, I was hoping you can help me.
It will not print anything! It only spits out blank pages. So far what I have done is:

                        1. Check which side of original faces to what in order to copy
(tried flipping and rotating it in all possible ways, both on the glass and on ARDF.
I thought that might be the problem but no.)

                        2. Tried different kinds of paper brands ( all A4 format)

                        3. Tried adjusting paper in trays in different ways (vertical, horizontal)

                        4. Stocked all trays with A4 paper (adjusted brackets in trays correctly and rechecked them) tray 1, tray2 and bypass

                        5. Tried menu adjustment of paper sizes in trays both manual and automatic.

                        6. Checked toner, replaced 3 or 4 of those. All of them brand new. Followed placement procedure to a T.

                        7. Checked ARDF placement, its connection.

                        8. Cleaned the glass ( I know that's dumb idea since the copier is brand new but I am desperate

                        9. Checked if copier is placed in a leveled position ( I hope you see the desperation

                        10. Tried to make any kind of copy single, zoomed, duplex...

Maybe I skipped something I did but so far I haven't managed to get a single printed copy.

I would be thankful for any kind of advice that would lead to solution.

BTW, I think that I am missing something called transmission stamp that is plugged in ARDF (under the white cover that covers glass of the copier)

Seems like a laser problem - if the laser doesn't hit the drum, you'll get blank copies/prints.

See if anything is blocking the laser path.

Hopefully there are access panels so I won't end up

Seems that laser doesn't work. Try to reconnect plugs, or even better if you have another machine swap laser unit.
