    MP161spf Default Scan in PDF?

I've installed an MP161spf, set up scan but all scans default to TIF. For standard PDF you have to select File Type in PDF each and every time you start a scan.
Does anybody know if there is a setting that would change so the initial default to scan in is in PDF ?
I've looked through the manual but I do not see it.
    Thanks in advance.

Hey neergish, thanks for your reply but that setting does not stay. When you change that setting, it only works for the scan you are doing, but once you are done and do a new scan, it is defaulted to the TIF.
My question is if there is a way to make it default to PDF always instead of the default being TIF ??
I would think PDF is more common than TIF and so it should default to PDF before TIF.
Or maybe is there a setting that is not allowing it to stay when PDF is chosen?

The newer units have a 'program' button, to the right of the display-set your desired options, and hit Program>program as default. This should make the settings permanent.

I don't remember seeing a Program button since I was looking to see where I could make settings changes. But I will stop by at the copier tomorrow or Friday to see if it is there.
          Thanks for the info.

This is got me thinking now.... installed a bunch of these 3 or so years ago and there is a trick to it like the program button

might be pushing the ok button twice, cant seem to find it anyware but im sure the 161s dont have a program button.

There is no program key in this model.
              Follow the tip of Neergish.
I think you are not pressing the right key.
On copy mode (for ex) press "user tools/counter"

                ricoco, I will try that.
I may have been selecting the Scanner feature and then looking at the User Tools area.
Maybe in Copy Mode the User Tools gives a different menu.
Either case I'll take a more careful look at the User Tools area since that seems to be where I am being directed.
I thank you guys for your help and will let you know if I get it solved.
                Have a great day.

It's generally easier to make these settings through the web interface as you have a much better chance of confirming them as opposed to the multiple times you need to press OK to get settings to stick. Luckily, just about all of the newer boxes have the ability to make all the User Tools settings from the interface.

Thanks to you all for your helps.
I could not locate this setting from the web interface.
Neergish, you had it right all along. I must have been going to the wrong section, however this time I logged in "admin"from the panel to make the setting and now stays.
                    Have a great week.
