print job failed

hi guys
i have a mpc 3500, set up with windows auth. copy and scan functions work fine, but when i print, the log report comes back as:

D : 1
Name :
User ID : ?
File Name : Test Page
Created At : 24/3/2011 13:00:36
Started At : 24/3/2011 12:59:59
Error Type : Authentication error occurred.
Error Content : You do not have a privilege to use this function. This job has been cancelled.

any ideas?

What happens if you print the document in Black and white?

same problem... even the test page is coming back as error...

Log into the WIM as administrator. Go to address book and select the applicable user. Click change. Go to authentication information and check the boxes under available functions.

Do you want any functions to be limited? The machine is looking for a user code that will allow a submitted job to be printed, without a code you get the wonderful message you're getting now.

Make sure you are using the right driver for the copier.
Also you can try to use the RPCS driver. Might work.

ive set it up on windows auth. for copier, scan functions, but i do not want any restrictions via printing....

When logging into the web interface, make sure that the printer function is NOT checked under authentication. If a function is checked, then it looks for authentication when used.

SP Mode adjustment

It is my understanding when using Windows Auth you won't have the Ability to uncheck just the printer part in User tools or WIM like you can with User code Auth. There is a way by adjusting a service mode setting in SP 5-?? (sorry dont have a manual handy). Will get back to you with exact number ( around 302 area).

scanning and copying is working fine if the user logs in.. but i need anyone to be able to print to this machine... is this possible?
am i right in saying that if check all the boxes including printer, the user needs to log into the mpc first then print? i need it so that they do not need to do this everytime...

Adjust SP mode 5420-041 from 0 to 1

This will allow windows Auth to restrict everything except printing.
