    [Misc] Mysterious error message, no SC code available. Aficio MP C6000/LD260c

    An Aficio MP C6000 / LD260c keeps on giving a mysterious error message, with no SC code. The message is;

    Functional problem detercted.
    Press [restart] after the curent process.
    Repeat settings after the machine has restarted.

    This message happens when the customer comes into their office in the morning, and a few times throughout the day. We checked the SC history and couldn't find any SC codes that would be associated with this. As as usual we are having trouble duplicating the problem. We upgraded the firmware many times and this message keeps on coming up.

    Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem with this. Thanks.

    Attached is a picture of the message.

    Thanks

    Try updating/reflashing the firmware. Sounds like something's a little flaky, especially if 7-403 doesn't show any recent SC's...

        Failing firmware, try reseating all connections to the controller board. Also, check the memory DIMMS and power, the big machines always seem to be a little more susceptible to power issues.

          Switch data logging on and read the info when the fault occurs, You can get errors not being recorded there is a voltage drop on the controller.

            I think I had this on the same model and I had to replace the HD assy.

                Thanks for the advice guys. The same message came up on this machine that's now in our office and after rebooting it through a SC437, which is a magenta error, so we are currently working on the sensor to see what happens next. Don't know if that will take care of it, but it seems progress is getting made.

                  I had this problem and had to change the interlock switches on the right side door. On another occasion we took out the laser unit, cleaned it and it took care of the problem. You might have to check and maybe replace the laser unit.
