    MPC3501 etc Sleep mode

If you find a machine in the MPC3501 range (Possibly 4501 / 5501 and others?!) which enters sleep mode (AOF) and will not recover without cycling the main power switch, check the Power sub system firmware.

There seems to be an issue with the latest (?) version.

Level D0875560B (F.14) shows in the boot firmware.

Retrofitting level "A" (F.13) or the "Base" version (F.11) appears to cure the problem. I have 9 machines on 1 site which were running various versions and the "B" level failed on each machine.

It's possible that other machines may be running a variant of this firmware.

Can you not switch AOF off and just let it go into low power standby?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

I thought of that, but I had the earlier firmware and wasn't sure if there may be other problems with the latest version. I also noticed on one of the machines with the "B" version that if shutting down manually the machine tried to reboot as the HDD shut down but would hang instead of going to the normal boot sequence. That was enough for me to fit the "A" version.

Updating to the latest System/Copy Firmware should fix this issue

If the latest version doesn't correct the issue, I would post a tech alert on the TSRC / TESSA site (whichever one you use).
