    MP 5500 SC101

I have to sort this out in the morning, 1 of our guys spent friday afternoon and all of today (monday) at this machine. Now, the prick who was at it, is economical with the truth at the best of tmes so I take what he says lightly, here goes, changed main pwb, gw cntll, sbu/lens block assy, home position sensor, lamp and lamp regulator assy, still has code!!!! I told him to check all the mirrors ( he replied that despite thoroughly cleaning the machie that he didn't touch the optics!) Firmware is the only thing I can think of.

So I'll be looking at this in the morning- any pointers please????

Was the sc101 the reason he went to the machine in the first place? I find it very hard to believe that he went through all that and did not check or clean the optics. The first thing that he should have done is clean the white plate, clean the mirrors, and make sure that one of the mirrors is not out of position. I would do that first and then if you still have the code find out in what order he changed the above parts and make sure that he didn't leave something unplugged or not plugged in all the way. Good luck.

I wouldn't think firmware. The dog is too old. I seen this trigger when the white plate isnt attached, when the lamp is out or when the harness (AC from the lamp ) is bad.

he went for a pm initially, didn't touch the optics and got the code. He says he checked everything related to the code without any luck, I told him to re-trace his steps as the code only appeared after he did the 'pm'. But as I said he's a lying little shit most of the time so you really do not know what to believe or indeed what he ACTUALLY did.

Unless a harness is shorted, it has to be in the optic chamber. if the lamp is coming on at start up, look for something blocking the light between the lamp and the SBU. Check the ribbon cables between the SBU and the (whatever in the back, IO I think, or BICU) Good luck. This is why you get the big bucks!
