    Ricoh 1224C dead Hard Drive

    Help,

Looking for RICOH, Lanier guru. Have a client in a remote location that has a 1224C with what i believe is a dead hard drive.

    First question -

Can it be replaced by any 40Gb Hard drive, i would assume standard IDE drive.

Second Question - how easy are they to get out, reintsall new drive and format.

I have been searching for a service manual, but to no avail. So if anyone has any pointers i'd be most grateful. I'd like to read up on it a little before i make the trip out into the wilderness

    Thank you in advance.

Yes, a standard IDE 40G drive will work, make sure you set the jumper(s) as Master. Once installed, you will need to format it service mode using SP5-832. They will lose the stamp data unless you redownload it, but I wouldn't bother if the customer doesn't mention it. Attached is the replacement guide for it, fairly straightforward.

Same here in SA mate, no one wants to be a tech anymore. Probably doesn't help that kids can't do apprenticeships anymore.

With a name like slakkie you wouldn't get a job from me so I'm glad you think SA sucks, although, if you haven't been here, WTF would you know?
