Ricoh aficio 2045esp - Copies too grainy & dark - print ok

    Hello,

I have a ricoh aficio 2045esp copier. Prints fine. The copies are too dark and grainy. When I manually select image density lighter the copies are fine. I am not sure what to adjust. Any help here is appreciated.

Also need firmware for this machine. If you can please send it to my email: thendralnagar@yahoo.com

    Thank you in advance.

First thing is to make sure all of the mirror surfaces are clean (and clean as in any filming removed - do not use an abrasive, use alcohol). The TSC site is down for maintenance today so I can't look up any sp codes or firmware. If after thoroughly cleaning the optics and copies are still dark, a quick and dirty way to compensate is to
    >set the density manually to the best level
    >program the op panel to #10 using the program button
    >go into user tools/copy-doc server/ and set program #10 as default

There are other suggestions that are probably better that others will suggest here, keep checking back.

      Dear teebee1234,

Thank you for quick response. I cleaned the ardf as well as the exposure glass. I did not open to clean though. The copy is good when I manually reduce the copy density by 2 points. When reducing by 1 point it is lot better then automatic, but not as good as 2 points. I will try your suggestions tomorrow. By the mean time, once you have a chance, please send me the latest firmware for this unit.

      Thanks a lot.

            User tools/copier setings/image density.
Check the white plate on the glass.
Adjust white plate read in service mode.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?
