    Scan to cloud settings

Scanner configurations are my weakest area as we do not offer IT support. We installed an MPC4500 and they want to scan to cloud. Their IT guy says he dosn't think the unit will support it. Is there some settings on the 4500 that need to be made in order to scan to cloud? thank you for any help. scanning seems to be getting more important and more complicated.

    Hi,
I think you need the Browser option installed. This basically gives the machine access to the internet and you can log in to Cloud portals (G-mail or Picasa for example) and scan to them.

Take a look on this page www.app2me.com
I think there is enough information for what you need.

thank you, I'll pass this along to the IT guy trying to set this up and see if that helps him.

App2me will also require the java option to be installed. Java type C I believe.

Nice thought, but App2Me isn't supported on this model.

Here's a link to the supported model list on the App2Me site:

                  MFP browser compability

I could not find the MPC4500 on the Ricoh MFP browser compatibility sheet. Are you sure it does support the browser function?

.... it says so in the UK Service guidelines for the MPC4500 but I don't work on those, I only cover High Volume Black and white.

It isnt as simple as a browser option, a lot depends on the cloud provider they are using...
Is it only trough a website that they access the cloud? Or to they have folder syncs?
Very few machines can upload directly to a cloud, it is after all a new technology, there is however a bunch of software designed to sync folders to clouds, and with ricoh's scan to folder option this makes thing very simple...
You can ask the IT guy how do they synch their files to the cloud, and based on that you can work out an appropriate solution.

The easiest thing to scan directly from a Ricoh machine to the cloud without the need of software or hardware is (and I do not want to make advertising here :/ so sorry for that) UDOCX.com (which is cloud based). Via the browser the machine accesses the cloud services (Microsoft Online) directly and no one needs to configure anything (you just add the udocx website into the browser).

Well, that is fine also, but the point is that we cant offer a direct solution without details about the cloud they are using.

I'll pass all this information along to the IT guy setting this up. It amazes me how you all stay up to date on this stuff! Just when I think I know something, everything changes. Thanks for all the ideas.
