    MP9000 won't run transparencies

I've got an MP9000 with the optional LCIT and By-pass trays installed. Trying to run OHP transparencies from the by-pass, OHP selected along with the letter portrait as special paper on the control panel.

The copier will run anywhere from 1-10+ sheets through with no problems. Then again it may jam on the 2nd or 3rd sheet. I can do card stock from the by-pass all day long. Anyway, I've tried with three different brands/kinds of sheets. All of them have been made for copiers and fully transparent. I just picked up a package of the removable strip variety to test come Monday. If that doesn't work, then I'll pick up the style with the full sheet backing.

The sheets are stopping/jamming at the registration roller. Usually the first sheet in line is already starting to feed through the roller. There may be one or two more piled up on top of/behind the one in the registration roller. What is going on here?

Try turning off the double feed detection for the bypass. (1-908-007).

The double feed sensor is a LED and the receptor sensor on the another side is basically receiving feedback in the way of a light signal.
OHPs being transparent might be letting that signal go straight through and bang you have a false double feed detection at registration.

BTW the 'about this machine' op manual says for OHPs...
If multiple sheet feeding occurs, load sheets one by one.
LOL not that useful but it could be used as a 'get out of jail' card.

      I'll give that a try.

I spent a fair amount of time verifying the sheet feed at the by-pass. Marked up a bunch of sheets with a marker so I could see each sheet being fed in. Definitely no multi-feeding going on. But, that doesn't mean the machine thinks the same thing.

Keep that one in my pocket as a last, very last, resort.
      Thanks for the ideas.
