    MPC2051/2551 (D104/D106) new features

Fumbling through the TSRC site and thought I'd post this info from a powerpoint for the service launch. I would expect these features to be standard on most new models coming out. I just copied what I though were the most interesting details, such as print from sd/usb, user quotas can be set, support for webmail and envelope tray (which looks different than the current one).
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Standard configuration for both
ARDF, Duplex, Bypass, 2x250 sheet trays, 500 sheet output tray, 1.5 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD, VM Card, DataOverwrite, HDD Encryption and App2Me

All models have the following equipment built-in:
    Printer/scanner unit.
    USB host
    10-baseT/100-baseTX
    Java VM
App2Me (Must be installed by the technician during the machine’s installation procedure)
    Data Overwrite Security Unit
    HDD Encryption Unit

    SD cards

Slot 1 (upper slot): Security SD Card (contains the Data Overwrite Security Unit and HDD Encryption Unit)
Already installed at the factory; the technician does not have to do anything when installing the machine. However, the customer must activate them with user tools.
Slot 2 (lower slot): Empty when shipped from factory
VM card with App2Me must be inserted during the machine’s installation procedure.

    Envelope Feeder Option
Installs inside Standard Tray #1 to provide a dedicated source for feeding envelopes and custom paper sizes.
    250 sheets; Up to 11" x 17"150 sheets: 5.5" x 8.5"
Up to 40 envelopes depending upon thickness.
    Envelope Types: DL, Com10, Monarch, C5, C6, 10" x 14", 11" x 15
*The envelope feeder tray can handle ordinary paper; however it is specially modified
for smooth feeding of envelopes (extra feed rollers and narrow bottom plate).

    Connectivity/Software Improvements

    *New Security/Authentication functions
SSLv2/SSLv3/TLS protocols can now be enabled/disabled
Support for SMTP over SSL (scan to webmail)
    Intermediate CA Certificates support
    *New Printer driver/Printing functions
Support for removable storage devices has been added
    *New Scanner functions
A signature can be included with messages sent using scan to e-mail
    *Other new features
User quotas can now be set (job limits and page limits are available)

    Print From USB/SD

Insert removable media and then press the “Print from Removable Memory Device” button
*Printer SP1-110-001 must be enabled to see this option
*Thumbnail view to see files on removable storage
    Print Volume Use Limitation
*Allows the imposition of volume limits on individual users
*When a user account reaches its print volume limit, the machine will either suspend
the current job or display a message
*Use of this feature requires User Authentication
The Print Volume Use Limitation feature applies to jobs created using any of the following device applications:
    Printer
    Copy / Document Server
    SDK applications
    (Support varies by SDK application.

Christ it's a clever little thing, all those options as standard! Envelope feeder option too? Sweet!
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

I imagine the customer would have to order the USB/SD option, which now will be read/write.

That much detail wasn't given, probably have to wait for the manual to show up.

Thats right teebee... They have to buy it. So, it is optional...
I'm just comparing to the MPC300. This equipment has already USB.
However there is difference with the old model that even buying the optional USB could not print. Just scan to USB. And that is very good.
thanks for your post. Good overview of this model

Certainly not a big deal, but the documentation is just a bit off.

While DOSS certainly is included, it still needs to be installed in Service Mode (SP-5878) before it can be activated in User Tools.

At least you don't have to scramble looking for the "white envelope" DOSS SD card.

Actually it does state that in the presentation, I just didn't include it on my paste job. It also states....
There will still be a DOSS option available for customers who require ISO 15408 Common Criteria certification (standard DOSS is not certified). Certification for the DOSS option is expected to be completed in early 2011.

*Please note that once DOSS/DESS is installed on the device (even if it is not activated) you will need to replace the NVRAM to install ISO certified DOSS/DESS. Also, if you install additional applications that require you to merge (not enough slots) applications, you will need to install new NVRAM.

The option the manual is saying is the USB/SD hardware interface. You can print directly to the USB port on the machine. Plug your usb flash on it then you can print without using the optional USB/SD interface. In MPC 4501 i was able to print.

Are you saying to insert in the USB in the controller, right?
