    Ricoh MP7500 print history

    Hi everybody!

I have a customer that wants to see the print history on the machine so they don't have to count the pages from the documents their clients print.

When I see the print history in the machine, the document name and user name is full of "**" but if I use WIM, I can see all the information correctly without the need to login as administrator.

I tried the following with no results
    - enabled all Administrators and logged in the machine to see the print history
    - enabled user code authentication, created a user with print and copy permission and logged in the machine to see print history

The firmware is the most recent.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

There is no option in the machine itself to do what you want.

You'll need to add something like Equitrac to accomplish this.

Keep in mind that this is exactly what people DON'T want to be able to easily do, given all the recent turmoil with HDD security in MFPs over the past year or so.

      Thanks for your reply.

I understand the point but with WIM we can see all that information easily. Doubt the customer will want Equitrac just to do that.

      Thanks

If you only want a count of total pages printed by user, the WIM will give you that.

If you want job names, times the jobs printed, pages per job, etc... it's Equitrac or the like.

You get what you pay for.

Have you tried to print the reports that user codes will give you? You could run them every month, or however often and then clear the accounts to start over again with the count. This generally gives you some pretty good hard numbers on who's printing what.

Again, these counts are total pages only, based on User Codes.

Sometimes that's enough info, and a lot of times it's not.
