    SC819 on MPc2500

I went out today to set up scanning. As all the computers were W7 I had to update the firmware, I hadn't updated it since install about 4-5 years ago.
I put the booted the machine with the card installed and was able to update probably 4 pieces, it wouldn't let me update some like fax or printer, they have to be done separatly. As well as the OPE has to be done separately. anyway I turned it off and makeing sure all the lights were off, I turned it back on. SC819. I turned it off, waited, turned it back on. SC819.
I pulled the controller out, cleaned the RAM sticks and reinstalled. Still SC819.
    What do you think?
I sounds like I scrambled the firmware but how do you get around that?
I have a controller board I will try tomorrow and I think I will format this card and reload the firmware.
    Any ideas appreciated.

downgrading would be an option for testing.

it sounds like the controller is scrambled, not just the firmware, if it won't boot even with the SD card installed.

The manual calls 819 either defective memory or controller. I usuallly update the engine and the system seperatly and then the rest all at one time.

sounds like a good idea, but is there a way to skirt the current situation?

The last time I had this (late last year), it was a defective dimm (just one of two). While it probably is the controller, you might want to replace the dimm(s) first.
*I don't believe there is a way to recover the controller like you can with the big boxes.

Went out this am, tried the new RAM, nada. So replaced the controller and joy was in my heart.
                  Thanks for all the input.

OEM brand I would hope, the generic stuff doesn't give quite the same buzz.
