Apart from ScanRouter and TWAIN, your only other choice is scan to email on the Aficio 2045 (4545) model.

But the slightly newer Aficio 2045e (DSm645) does have scan to smb.

if i use scanrouter , does it means i need a pc to be server , and if any other pc in the same office want to storge the file must through the server?
i've heard that there is a new scan system. it seems that it can create accounts even groups,so it does not need a server anymore,is it true?

Yes ScanRouter needs to be installed on a workstation / server.

ScanRouter Lite is now old and obsolete and has been replaced by 'scan to smb', which is a integrated feature of the newer Ricoh controllers.
(Basically it's direct machine communication to one or many directory shares over a network).

You need to get the print/scan kit to use SMB on this model.

Just like SMTP is a transport protocol for sending email.

I noticed most places prefer scan to email if a choice between scan to folder and email. But big files can cause problems with the email option.
