Just had a call come in from a customer who is 250kms away. Anyone heard of this SC899 before? I can't find it in my manual.

Loads of firmware upgrades related to dropping off network, not returning from sleep mode and 899 etc. Install LATEST powersave subsystem, system copy, engine, LCDC .... maya as well update ALL!!

Are you enrolled in Ricohs @remote programme? when we have a distance problem that is software related, we use a programme called TeamViewer (free for non commercial/trial use) to set up the MFD remotely and then flash the firmware remotely.
Alternativly use the above to manually upload the firmware by logging into the webviewer for the device and upload the firmware that way.

My manager is driving up there this morning to upgrade all firmware. Since I posted this thread I have found quite a lot of info regarding this SC. I bet it has kept a few engineers busy.

Jam betting there is a solution running in Java as well. As preciously stated
1. Firmware
2. Increase. Heap/Stack
3. AOF.. Auto Off...Turn off..( If machine goes to sleep and doesn't wake up fast enough failure to start software app occur

Unfortunatly there are some issues with some versions of acrobat reader that have been causing the sc 899. version 10.1.3.23 or so. google it!

Maybe the new info will be helpful to someone searching for it in the future? I'm pretty sure I've seen that's why it is OK to reply to an old thread around here somewhere. As long as the new replies aren't filled with stupid dumbassery anyway.

On most of these SC899's it's a PCL bug; I generally update the FCU, PCL and Network Support firmware as a set. We are also updating the Java on machines that do this, check the link:

On the MPCxx03 series with the embedded Java, you slap this onto an SD card, load it into the firmware slot, and wait for it to install. On older boxes, remove the Java card from the machine, load it into your laptop, and update it there.
