MP4500 - SC322?

Hey there, been having a nightmare with this machine lately. Started popping up with an SC322 error so eventually we linked that to the laser synch board and swapped out the whole laser unit just to be safe. Nope! Still getting the same error.

I did read in the manual that the front door and upper right door switches are safety switches for the laser unit - if these go faulty can you get this issue?

Otherwise has anybody else seen this and/or fixed it?

It could be the door switch circuit, or the connection between the BICU board and the LD.
From Goose's Guide:
Laser Sync detect error - door switch circuit has an open, check for 5vdc at CN 403-3 on laser unit

I've never personally dealt with this, but it's a thought.

we encountered this with D422 machines and we just clean the door swtiches,if not replace it.

Change the door switches. Also, check why the machine is spewing out toner. It may be overtoning or have split dev unit or PCU seals.

Pardon my ignorance but how do you 'clean' the door switches?!

Since the switches were full of dust and here in saudi arabia we have sand storms we just blow air first to the switches and after that we use contact cleaner. And most of the time the sc322 will be eliminated.

It does work sometimes. De-Oxit is good for cleaning them.
