    MPC 6501 Toner scattering

    Hello,
New adjustement to reduce toner scattering:
    SP 2-905-1 Set to 1
    SP 2-905-2 Set to 10
Machine start consume toner after 1 gramm and coil turn 10 second.
Test on 2 machines, very good results after 1 month. Machine clean.
    Bye.

SP 2905 001 and 002 deal with the Waste Toner Bottle, I have machines that scatter 7k to 10k after a full PM. When I say "Full PM" I mean with PM Kits / Filters and New waste toner bottle.

I really believe this problem is supply related / Humidity and temperature / and Process Control. The MPC6000 does not have this issue, and Ricoh distributed Special Firmware for the 6000. It is not available for the MPC 6501.....Yet

Have you gotten this info? There is also a video, but basically the mylar shields in the drum station are flipped and deformed. This blocks the slots that allow the toner to drop to the coil after being pushed up by the flicker brush. The toner has nowhere to go except up to the charge roller and out over the recovery blade. This doesn't account for the excess in the dev unit that drops on the lip but would for the blowout toner throughout the rest of the machine.

Good presentation, and I understand the importance of the position of the rubber mylar and how the "right stay" that gets deformed needs to slide in. I was shown a trick in class, using a sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 paper and it works every time. I am also very careful with the flicker mylars and shaft.

My issue is with the copies between CQ calls. And customers cannot trust the output, meaning they need to constantly check all their printed work for occasional scatter.

I don't seem to have leakage, my charge rollers are somewhat consistently clean. The toner is building up under the mag roller and occasionally dropping into the copies or the ITB belt.

I don't seem to have this problem, or to this extreme anyway with the MPC6000.

Thanks for the Zip file, but the video was not included for some reason..

Yea, Ricoh tech support state the toner buildup in the dev section is normal because the device is used beyond normal specs (30/70 ratio of color to black) and it needs to be cleaned about every 30k. I don't really buy that as I never had this issue with the 3260's. It's like they tried to get fancy with the developer formula and got into a slippery slope of fixes.
The video was too large to post but I can put it on a file share site if anyone is interested.

Good one Teebee, these things make too much waste in the first place so i,m thinkin the cleaning unit is an overloaded victim. I,m guessin the machine makes full bleed sky shots on the belt to detone during control. That would cause both the dev and cleaning unit issues

There has recently been a bulletin about toner scatter released a few days back. There are a few settings to change and fw has to be at a certain level. I am sure it reduces the amount of process control it performs. Also the bulletin mentions to vac mc regularly (which I do). I am about to try these settings tomorrow as I am doing a full k pm on it. I will see how these settings go. Also this bulletin is on myricoh site and not the tessa. Hope this helps.
Networking skills are advantageous but use of a 3m vacuum cleaner is essential
