    Can't scan to emai with Server2008 and Exchange2008 (LD433, DSm618d, DSm622, LD525c)

Long time customer just upgraded their email server to Server2008 and Exchange2008 and now there is now no scanning to email. Scans time out just like there is missing or incorrect SMTP authentication data I've double checked the SMTP server name, used the I.P. address and triple checked the SMTP authentication with 3 separate sets of good credentials. The I.T. staff says there is nothing in any error logs or any notice of any communication on the server end. From what I've deduced is that Server2008 has SSL turned on by default and I know none of the machines they have are SSL compatible. All the devices are on the same LAN and email is hosted internally. From what I've seen in a quick Google search there's not anything I can do from the machine end and they will need SSL disabled by their I.T. staff.

Anyway I can break the news gently and not bruise his I.T. ego? (snicker)
the savin2535 is displaying well bet the hiter lamp is not shining and the lamp had been tested o.k.please kindly help.

You could always tell him his shiny new server is too advanced for the poor machines. You could really have their IT get his geek on by suggesting either using an old 2003 server with internal network access only for the copiers to use, or if he's really big on the nerd scale maybe a virtual 2003 server housed on the new one with the same kind of network controls.

I had a similar issue with a Aficio 2027 customer upgraded to Svr 2008, and scan to email just died. i got scan to email working by using the public SMTP IP address instead of go through MS Exchange server.

In my case there was also no SMTP authentication.

Before i tried this i had also tried setting up the MFD on DHCP auto and updated the MFD's firmware this didnt work.

Their old exchange server went to the big server room in the sky about 2 weeks ago and apparently they have been in dire email straits since then. I know it's not what he wants to hear with all the issues they've been having, but that is in essence what I told him.

They have the network locked down pretty good. We have a Crapcast account that we use for testing and I couldn't get to that or our in house email server from inside their network.

Maybe I can turn it into a 4 machine sale...

Gmail uses SSL if I'm not mistaken.

Go for it! Either they are going to have to lower their security, or pony up for machines that support ssl.
