Shape of MP3500 vs MP4500 vs MP5000 toner cartridge

I have a customer who INSISTS on not paying for OEM toner (ARRGGG!) so I'm out there every six months like clockwork to swap out their MP3500 for 4500A toner.

I am curious why this keeps happening. I did some research. They order toner for an MP5000 what they appear to be getting is the top one from here.

But why/how can there be two different shapes?

Both the 3500 and 5000 use the same dev. So I assume the toner should be the same. Tomorrow when I go there I'm going to pour some of that 3500 milk bottle toner into the 4500A cartridge and see if it works. They bought a case of the milk bottle toner.

If it is anything like the SP8200 printer and the MP4000's, then remove the plastic guide just below the toner bottle motor. You can put either bottle in the the machine. We have a customer with both and they would eventually put the wrong bottle in and it would jam and not turn giving light copies. Dev=same therefore Toner=same. Good Luck
