[Misc] Afico MP2000 - Address book Incomplete

Today I was asked to help setup an MP2000 for scanning to folder, by a client who had obtained the machine elsewhere. I've setup several of the MP series before, although I don't think this one in particular.
Once I logged into the WIM and clicked on the address book, it was obvious that something was wrong. The only available options were basically "name" and "fax number". There was no space to enter any email settings folder authentication, path, or otherwise -very strange.

I was able to configure the email settings under the configuration button in the WIM, and then manually enter an email address via the control panel of the machine, and successfully send an email, but this is certainly not ideal and doesn't solve the "scan to folder" issue.

I actually had the firmware for this machine with me, and updated all features, and did a "memory all clear" too.

Machine is otherwise fine for print, fax, etc.

Anybody seen this type of thing before? I'm figuring it's a board problem of some sort, but it's just a strange one.

I don't know for sure if you can do it, but it sounds like some of the functions are disabled through the WIM. If you press user tools/counter and then press and hold the # key while pressing the touch panel displays (system settings, copy settings, etc.) you can reset them back to the defaults. I don't know if this will help, but it's worth a shot if you want to try to get the WIM back to default.
the savin2535 is displaying well bet the hiter lamp is not shining and the lamp had been tested o.k.please kindly help.

That's interesting to try on another machine (ie: MP3010, C3500, etc.) when I get to my shop tomorrow. I hadn't heard of this procedure before, but the MP2000 doesn't have the touch screen - only the 3 line LCD (Like the aficio 2020, 2015, etc.) Is there any procedure like that for this model?

Im pretty sure holding the # key and pressing the number together will still get you into special service mode.

I think Cobiray was referring to something other than "special service" mode, which isn't available on these models.

Yes, it's not super secret service mode or the *# reboot, it's a way to reset the USER TOOLS screens back to the default settings.

I'm not sure on the non touch panel versions, but I would assume pressing the associated number while holding the # key might reset it as well. I've never had a chance to try it on these versions.

Is the print/scan sd card in slot 1(bottom slot)? Had an LD016 with similar symptoms and eventually found that someone had put the print/scan card in the wrong slot.

x2 on the sd card in the wrong slot. This is not a 2000L is it. It is TWAIN only scanning.

Thanks to you and Jomama! I never got back to the machine that initially caused me difficulty a few months ago, as I was only there trying to do a 'favour' for a friend, however, i just purchased one of these boxes to refurb, and found it had the same problem.|The print/scan card was in the upper slot, while the 'fax address book' card was still in the lower slot. I assume that the print/scan was added separately at some point and the fax card was just left there to screw with me!....lol...thanks guys!

Even though the SD Card is put in the right slot (i.e. lowest slot) It might pop up an error - Address Book Data Error. (SC870). Here I believe SD card replacement.

                          Rgds.

                            Hi Sandman.

You will probably not believe this but i have had the same issue on quite a couple of MP2000's. When the engineers set-up the machines they tend to "swop" the two sd cards around( address book and printer/scanner card). Everything works fine as you mention until you access the WIM. Swop them around and your problem will be solved. Good luck and and let us know!

I have seen this before, the print/scan card is in wrong slot it should be in the bottom slot (someone probably put it in the top, print/scan works but no options in address book) also you might need to initialize address book. Put the print/scan card in the bottom slot and that will solve your problem
