mpc2050 feed noise

i have an mpc2050 that is makin the usually feed noise from the feed tire rubbin the sep pad when it feeds. i have already replaced the tire and sep pad and id stopped for about a week but now the customer has called back complaining bout the noise.

any suggestions

It may be a silly suggestion, but make sure the customer sets the back stop in the cassette correctly after refilling.

I've had the roller under the feed tire cause this.

I've been using the cork type sep pads instead of that awful synthetic crap they now seem to be using. Seem quieter and more reliable.

I have encountered the same problem and I resolved it by reducing the tension in the spring of the friction pad. Press the spring with the pliers.Put the spring back again and try.If sound is still heard during feeding then you need another press to the spring.

thanx for the tips, ill have to try compresing the spring, i had thought about it but didnt know if would have any adverse affects

A dob of grease on the sep pad holder also helps as it can slide more easily in its mounting and the cork type pad is definitely the go.

went out today and tried compressing the spring, but that didnt help. dug through my tool case and found another sep pad for a diffrent machine and it worked w/o the noise. had the same material on it as the other one but was quiet. ?

Won't likely stay quiet though, IMHO the cork material is superior.

Try a piece of scotch tape over the pad on each of the outside edges. It indexes the pad enough to keep it quiet but still performs its job of separation. Also submit an E-lert on the web site, maybe they'll make separators that aren't noisy.

As already stated, your problem is with the tension spring.
My suggestion is: take the spring from the separation pad and put the machine to work. Do not worry it will not jam. When you manage, go to the client and put a new spring.
I know I'll hear laughing (has happened before). Believe me it work fine.

New sep. pads have been made by Ricoh.

If the pad has been off check the Mylar isn't bent under the pad.

As stated before Ricoh has new sep pads out for them. Its in a bulletin. The new ones have grease on the contact points in the machine. I find that taking the thick silicone grease and applying it to the same points as mentioned in the bulletin works great too. It at least solved the noise problem on the 6 machines i have done it to so far. Its been several months and no noise.

I use the Mp161 cork pad we replace them from new also helps with the jamming issue
