I have very faint-low density-copies but toner tank is full of toner. Once i replaced toner tank assy because it was overfilled and auger gear was broken. After too many 2-207 routines, copies are satisfactory for a while.(About 1.000 prints).Toner bottle turns normally,no S.Codes. Drum/developer life at 200K, m/c has 2.500.000 clicks.Sensors readings seems to be normal. Any experience please?

the customer isnt running the machine enough to make it add toner we have had a lot of those problems where the customer makes less copies than they used to. if u force toner several times it tones up however only lasts a couple days to month depending on their use...

Is the auto process control turn on(default mode)? Try setting 2966 and/or 2967 on to force more frequent process control checks and add toner checks.

Thanks for your reply Scott. I am still in trouble with this problem!
Auto Process Control is "ON", but 2966 and 2967 settings are "OFF" as on many other copiers. I will follow your advice..
I replaced TD sensor, ID sensor and Drum Potential sensor, with no luck.
My next step is to replace Toner Clutch even if it seems to work as the parts listed above, do. (M/C has 2.500.000 prints).
The most strange thing is that toner tank is FULL of toner and no SC appears,..from recycling for examble!
I always perform 2-207 many times, 2-801 and 2962 routines. All settings/readings seems logical on SP Mode printout.
        Thanks for your attention again.

If the toner tank is full, then the toner delivery system should not be the problem. You might want to see if toner actually comes out of the toner hopper all the way across the metering blade/screen. Just make sure the physical path is not blocked from the toner hopper to the developer unit. Make sure the toner auger actually turns and gears are not spinning on the shafts.

If the physical/mechanical delivery is not the problem, they your problem is convincing the m/c to turn on the
toner auger (see section 2.6.1 of the SM) or you have a bias problem.

A couple of other thoughts..... have you verified that the developed image on the drum is also light and that the residual image after transfer to the paper is almost non-existant? Is the toner mixture in the developer really low? Don't know how to definitively test for that last question. But, if there is any question in your mind, then you could add toner manually and see if that really does make a difference in the density. My point is to verify you really have a toner add issue as opposed to a bias issue.

          Good luck,
