    MP C3501 Scanner Errors, Sc101,141,142

I have a MP C3501 throwing up scanner errors.
    Sc 101,141,142.
To date I have replaced the lamplamp stabalizer and SIO pcb.
    The errors still persist.
I now suspect the SBU, (as per the manual).
Has anybody had a faulty SBU on these machines.

If you've got some scanning miles on it, replace the scanner harness.

The machine is only 3 months old with about 25k on the clock.

Is the problem intermittent or consistent?

The problem started off intermittent, about every day a sc101 followed by a sc141. Now its almost every ocassion I switch on the machine. The machine has gone to ready once or twice but after a copy or two it will error again.

When you refer to the harness, do you mean the scanner lamp harness. When I ordered a lamp for this machine it came complete with a harness, so this has also been replaced

I guess you're down to the SBU. I guess you might reseat the connectors first.

I suppose it happens in manual image density mode and auto mode?

Check the MP 4000 as well for these errors. There are bulletins for those errors. Maybe similar or give you some ideas...

Bulletin 45 for the MP4000 suggests the cause is a circuit failure on the BICU. I have had it coming up occasionally on 2 MP4000's but it does reset for now with a long power off. Machines have a low meter. It only affects the colour scanner version of the machine so it would not surprise me if this machine is infected with the same problem. It would be nice if there was a firmware fix but I am still waiting for a MP171 address book error fix so I am not holding my breath.

This problem was resolved, with more fault finding and support from the ricoh help desk.
A new Lens housing assembley was fitted to the machine.
                          Problem solved.

                          Many thanks for the help.
