Re: Mac prints Black and White
From Safari, go to localhost:631, that will open up the CUPS interface.
From there you can set printer defaults.
If you want to eliminate color completely, that will require some editing of the appropriate ppd file.“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. That’s why I keep mine locked up in the basement.” - Tim Hawkins -
Re: Mac prints Black and White
Download and run the PPD file for MAC.
The driver is generic.
The PPD tells the computer the abilities of the machine. Why do they call it common sense?
If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?Comment

You can also use the Preset option as well. Once the driver is loaded, go into a program and setup the driver for B&W. Once this is done, drop down the Preset menu and use the Save As... option to save the settings that you set as a default Preset. Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.Comment

Re: Mac prints Black and White
What would you edit within the PPD to create a customised B&W driver driver for a client for the SPC820DN driver for a MAC (10.67X)? I have tried using the SP8100dn driver but it has issus printing yellow colours clearly in B&W. Any advise would be much appreciated.Comment

Re: Mac prints Black and White
While I actually enjoy editing ppd files (yeah, I know, I'm deranged...), why work any harder than you have to?
It's a lot easier to set your defaults using the CUPS settings, as I mentioned in my earlier post.“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. That’s why I keep mine locked up in the basement.” - Tim HawkinsComment

Not totally related, but somewhat. Have a Savin C9130 that will not accept Photoshop prints from a Mac OS 10.5x when using PS drivers. PS recognized on machine, and drivers are correct. Any ideas?Comment

Re: Mac prints Black and White
On the MFP, under User Tools > Printer > Postscript > Data Type, change it from TCBP to binary.
Photoshop on a Mac uses its own Postscipt, which is binary only. I would suspect that the machine is printing pages and pages of binary, one line per page, at the top of each page.“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. This is a well documented issue; search for "TCBP" on the TSRC support site.

No, it should not, but have somebody run a test just in case after you make the change.“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. That’s why I keep mine locked up in the basement.” - Tim HawkinsComment
