[Misc] ScanRoute Lite v2 and C3501

I have been using Scanroute Lite v2 with a Richo 1035 and a Ricoh 3035 for some time now. I retired the 1035 and purchased a new MP C3501 machine. I want to connect it to the ScanRoute software. I have given it the same ip as the retired 1035 and when I go to activate the device in the software I get the following error.

The selected I/O device in not switched on or is not available on this network.

I can brouse the the networks from within the Scanroute software and see the evice and get the same error. Same happens if I entr the ip address. The IP address is 10.0.0.197.

I can print to the device just fine and I am sure I am mising a simple setting The fact that it all worked before and I have just switched out the machine does not point to any hardwaree issues but I am running ScanRoute Lite v2 on a windows 2000 machine logged in as administrator. I am scanning to folders on a network drive that has been working in the past is is still working from the 3035 machine.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't think that Scan Router (Lite or Pro) will connect with the newer machines, despite the fact that the Delivery Server setting still exists.

Keep in mind that the product was discontinued in 2006.

This machine will natively scan to folders (as well as email) so why would you possibly want to use Scan Router?

You have to delete the old I/O device first, then re-browse and add the new I/O device because the old and new machine have difference mac address. Don't forget to enter the IP address for receiving server on the copier.

If you can get a copy of Scanrouter V2 Pro and a copy of the Compatibility Update for 2.0.5.1/2.0.6.0/2.0.7.0 you should be able to get the I/O to connect.

Scanrouter lite does not support the Compatibility Update. Good Luck.

Maybe a strange question, but why don't you use the scan-to-SMB function? No need for extra software. Put the entries in the adress book and you're go.

I have to agree with Eric: the C3501 is an NTLMv2 compliant machine, you shouldn't need ScanRouter anymore. It's a Windows 98 piece of software: no machine manufactured after the 2075 needs it anymore as all machines from that model on support scan to folder natively. The only issue now is the use of NTLMv1 machines on newer domain controllers and Workstations (server 2008 and higher on the server side, and Vista and Win7 on the workstation side). Pitch ScanRouter in the trash where it belongs and have your customer actually enjoy scanning for a change.

The MPC3501 will not connect with the SR (lite) or SR (Pro). It can only work with ScanRouter EX Pro. Last time I had install this it cost $2500. But i don't think Ricoh even sells it any more.

My humble opinion. Go with SMB scanning.

                Good luck

Thanks for the info. I made this change and am still getting the same error. I am wondering if the ScaneRouter Lite v2 will communicate with the MP C3501 software.

I am hoping so but do you have any thoughts or suggestions. I am still getting the same error.

Again, Scan-to-SMB works much easier. Just fill in the path to the shared folder in the adress book. You don't need to install the Scan Router Software.

To use scan router.. go into SP modes, 5845-02, Delivery server setting>IP address and input the IP address of the server/ workstation that has scanrouter. Then, User Tools/System Settings/File Transfer/Delivery Option = "On" and the IP address you input will show up. Then, set it up from scan router.

Better yet, just lie many have said, ditch the scan router junk and go with the emedded SMB scanning, 'tis much better.

Thanks to everyone for the comments and I do appreciate the information. To answer a question why did I want to use ScanRoute in the first place is we have another machine a 3035 and I only wanted to have to do the deliverly point setup once for both machines. I thought there could be a peice of software that would allow me to do all the scanning admin in one location and have it show on both machines. That is still my wish if anyone might know of a software peice to use. ( I thought it was a good ides)

Again thanks to all for the help and comments and let me know if you have any suggestions.

You can probably use the backup/restore feature on the Web Image Monitor to backup the one and restore to the other so as to not have to repeat the destination list setup. If that doesn't work you might be able to use Smartnet Monitor for Admin to extract and upload between machines.
