If the machine has no options installed then you have to check the controller board.

x2 on the HDD / controller. These things had a bad habit of blowing controllers when they were new, just like the MP2550/3350.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

          Hit it.

The printer or scanner settings have been cleared
so they must be set up again.

              Hi, good day.

I have a sc817 on a MP2550. Disconected HD and same code, try to upload new firmware with sd card and no good, the SD card is inserted Pon slot 2 and also try slot 1 and had no response. I turn off the DIP switch 1 on controller board so it boot from the sd card and SC 672 appears......Please, can you help me????

Download the firmware, unzip the file, make a folder on sd card and name it (ROMDATA) make another folder in ROMDATA and name it with the machine code just check the machine code if it's D017 or D018,you files path will be looking like ROMDATA/D017or D018 and then firmware files in it,put it in second slot if you have done everything right the machine will boot from card !

But you need to replace controller beacuse SC817 is related to controller!

I have had luck with disconnecting the HDD then reboot copier go in to sp mode and format HDD #2 "IMH"
reconnect HDD and then you should be good. What I like to do is a format all for the HDD. But thats just me. Hope this works for you guys.
