    Jamming Proc900

    Hi All,

Have a c900 jamming on 290gsm cardstock.Customer is doing business cards double sided (custmoer feeds them once the puts them back into the tray)
they havent had any problem until now.Jams are occuring in the transport section. When they are putting the second side in paper customer is using is in the paper libary.Im fairly new to colour production any similar problems or issues or any ideas would be great.

Note page 33 of the product support guide (attached); it only supports duplexing of up to 220gsm paper. This isn't solely due to the capabilities of the duplex section, but because of the limitations of the primary transport system in handling paper that's been subjected to heat and pressure and has a tendency to curl, bend or twist.

The most likely reason it worked before and isn't now? Could be worn rollers on feed shafts or buildup of paper dust or waste toner. Could be that this particular batch of paper has a different moisture content. The amount of time between her printing the first side and then reinserting for the second has changed, allowing the paper a chance to change due to ambient influences.

But, as the machine isn't designed to do what she's trying to do, you're in for a long struggle.

I know Hemlock its a rock and a hard place but what can you do.
So many customers do business cards.I think it was jamming due to the oil in the fuser ill see how it goes though.
Manuals4u iu dont mean to be rude mate theres no way you would work on a proc 900 without ricoh training and let alone having access to a manual.

I worked on a canon colour machine in a print shop years ago that did a similar thing - their card stock worked for awhile then a few months in it stopped working, turned out they were cutting their own card stock on a big flashy guilotine and had changed the grain direction - problem sorted. gsm is one thing but stiffness is another

yeah the paper that was cut wasnt the best.I actually didnt check if it was short or long grain.
What grain cut was giving you problems? And where was it jamming.Fuser transport etc?

Good call on the grain direction. Also, check if they're using coated paper - and see if the coating has changed (some paper is coated on both sides, some on just one).

well in my case it didnt want to go around a bend on the way out but what you probably got to do is some experimenting and see what happens, also most machines turn things upside down at exit - turn that off if you can. You might get some joy from adjusting the fuser entrance guide too
