    [Jamming] B702 PUNCH UNIT PROBLEMS

Hi, everybody. I'm having misfeeding problems with the B702 punch units. These are the ones in the booklet finishers. I've got a mp7500 with the B700 finisher on it and a mpc3500 with the B804 finisher, and both have frequent misfeeds ONLY when using the punch unit. The paper is stopping at the punch unit entrance area on both machines. I've straightened the finisher entrance guides and cleaned the rollers. I have also tried disabling punch unit skew correction on both machines, no joy. Again, this only happens when the punch is selected. Has anybody else had troubles with these newer style punch units?

    For the B700:
    [Quote]
2.19 (1) The reliability against the paper jam during the booklet function with SR980 Finisher has been modified.

    (2) The reliability against the paper jam during the punching function with
The finisher, on which the Cover Interposer Tray is installed, has been modified.
    [/QOUTE

Firmware issue, upgrade to 2,19 or higher

    B804:
    Version 02.100:23
    Symptom corrected
Jam 62 occurs if the user selects the punch feature and 1200dpi
resolution on a machine with an SR3030 finisher connected.
Looks like a Firmware Issue also, upgrade to 02.100:23 or higher

    Good Luck

      Re: B702 PUNCH UNIT PROBLEMS

      Oh, i nearly forgot something:

Check, if all Connectors at the Punch unit are set ok, because if it looks like this:
      connector.jpg

you will get nearly the same Problem, but this would be permanent when using the Punch Unit

So, before fumbling with Firmware, check the Connectors

        Re: B702 PUNCH UNIT PROBLEMS

I removed and reinstalled the punch unit, made sure all connectors were seated, and installed the latest firmware. The machine is working great now. Thanks.
